Experience
Mark Hartley is a highly acclaimed author, public speaker and encourager of others' dreams. He is currently the Dean of Student Life at Norco College in sunny southern California. In this role, he oversees the Associated Students of Norco College (ASNC), Athletics, the Career Center, Commencement, Health Services, Student Activities, Student Conduct, Student Employment, and Welcome Week. His primary job responsibility, however, is to make sure his students are living up to their true potential! Mark encourages students to follow through on his favorite quote, which is, “To love what you do and feel that it matters, how could anything be more fun?"
Mark's higher education background began as a Resident Director at his Alma Mater the University of Redlands, where he oversaw nearly 200 undergraduates. In one year's time he was promoted to Assistant Director of the Student Leadership & Involvement Center overseeing 2,000 students. Mark began to focus his energies in the areas of fraternity and sorority life. He saw great potential in students who had self-selected into organizations that were founded on the principles of excellence in all areas of life. Mark helped a fledgling Greek community find their true potential. Their GPA went from a 2.71 to a 3.15 in a matter of two years based on systems of accountability Mark created and implemented. This was the impetus for his next venture, the Circle of Change Leadership Conference, which he was the emcee for five years. Circle of Change strives to help students become better than they were the day before, which in turn helps our communities, nation and world become better. In his spare time, Mark earned two Masters' degrees: one in business management and the other in higher education administration. Today, Mark is a doctoral student working on his dissertation focusing on student success.
In 2011, Mark was voted “Fastest Rising Star in America" by Campus Activities Magazine. As a public speaker, Mark talks on the topics of Leadership, Retention Strategies, Overcoming Obstacles, and Winning at the Game of College. He is the author of the highly acclaimed book series If Knew Then What I Know Now…, which has been used in several university orientation programs. Mark wears many hats throughout his daily life: Husband, Father, Speaker, University Administrator, Friend, Student, and Encourager…to name a few. One hat that will always be associated with Mark is LEADER. He is an inspiration to those who come in contact with him and he strives to be an inspiration to the world!
