Experience
Sergeant David Purser has been in law enforcement for almost 30 years and earned a
bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, San Bernardino.
Sgt. Purser began his law enforcement career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department
(OCSD) in October of 1994. During his 27-year career, he worked in the jails, patrol
operations, investigations, and the last 4.5 years as a Sergeant. During his tenure,
he received many formal commendations and the Medal of Lifesaving in 2011 for saving
the life of a 15-month-old infant who stopped breathing and had no pulse.
Sgt. Purser retired from OCSD in October of 2021 and joined the RCCD Police Department,
assigned to Moreno Valley College. He is proud to join the Mustang community and looks
forward to meeting all of you soon.
In Sgt. Purser’s spare time, he enjoys going to the gym, running, playing soccer and
golf. He has participated in the Baker to Vegas law enforcement relay race every year
since 1995. Sgt. Purser has a 10-year-old son who is the love of his life and he
is completely devoted to this vibrant young man. He is also the assistant coach of
his baseball team.
