Norco College Alumni Spotlight (2020)
I am currently a software engineer on the Android Platform team at Square, where I
work on developing the operating system for the Square Terminal and the Square Register
that have helped enable many restaurants, shops, and small businesses to process payments
with ease. During my time at Norco College from 2014 to 2016, I had been a part of
the STEM program, tutored in several math and science courses, interned at UC Berkeley's
Biomechanical Engineering lab one summer, and then at the Naval Surface Warfare Center
Corona the next summer.
I transferred to UC San Diego as a Math Computer Science major, where I tutored for
lower division computer science classes and was actively involved in the Women in
Computing club on campus. Through these communities, I was able to grow my network,
learn computer science topics in depth, attend many career fairs such as the Grace
Hopper Conference (the world's largest gathering of women technologists) in 2018 and
in 2019. These all helped me land internships at Intel as a graphics software engineer,
at Northrop Grumman as a software engineer, and at Workday as a software developer
for one summer and then as an iOS engineer for the fall. After graduating from UCSD
in 2019, I moved to San Francisco and started working at Square in August 2019.
