Canvas is a learning management system (LMS), from Instructure, which lets you create educational courses. Canvas enables our students to continue their education from home by allowing them to receive online instruction. It lets you create courses that look like web pages.
Using Single Sign-On With Canvas
Watch this SSO (Single Sign-On) tutorial video to see how to log into Canvas. The video will walk you through these steps:
- Go to the RCCD SSO website: myapplications.microsoft.com.
- Use your district email address and password to login.
- Click on the Canvas icon or the tool you wish to access.

Online Course Designations
Norco College uses the following modalities:
- Online (ONLN) -- No scheduled meeting days: Online classes are distance education classes with
no scheduled meeting days. Students will log in to Canvas and complete work regularly
throughout the week. Canvas and other technologies will be required to complete coursework.
- Regular Meeting (REG MEET) -- Specific days/times: Distance education classes with regular weekly meeting(s) during scheduled days and times. Students will attend class online during the published course times. Additionally, students will log in to Canvas and complete work regularly throughout the week. Canvas and other technologies will be required to complete coursework.
- Occasional Meeting (OCC MEET) -- Specific days/times: Distance education classes with occasional meetings during scheduled days and times. Students will occasionally attend class online during the published course times. Additionally, students will log in to Canvas and complete work regularly throughout the week. Canvas and other technologies will be required to complete coursework.
- Hybrid (HYB) -- Hybrid classes are distance education courses combined with on-campus face-to-face classes that will meet on required scheduled meetings days and times unless the college is ordered to discontinue face-to-face classes. If face-to-face courses are discontinued, and the course cannot be completed through distance education, it will be canceled. Canvas and other technologies will be required to complete coursework.
- Face to Face (F2F) -- Face-to-face classes are in-person and on-campus classes with weekly scheduled meeting days and times. Students will complete the semester on campus unless the college is ordered to discontinue face-to-face classes. If face-to-face courses are discontinued, and the course cannot be completed through distance education, it will be canceled.

Student Services for Norco College can be accessed inside Canvas, quickly and easily.
- Go to the RCCD MyPortal Website (also called Single Sign-on or SSO).
- Use your district email address and password to log in.

Online Bookstore
Students may purchase course textbooks and materials online through the online bookstore of each college. Visit the Norco College Bookstore to find and purchase your learning materials.
