Rising Above Adversity: The Inspiring Journey of a Dream-Driven Student
Celeste Young, a Norco College Mustang, is on a mission to pursue her dream of becoming a pediatrician and making a difference in the lives of those who cannot speak for themselves. She is majoring in Biology and is set to graduate in 2025. Celeste's journey has not been without obstacles, but her determination and support from Norco College have been instrumental in her success.

When Celeste started her journey to return to school after a 20-year break, she applied to CBU to pursue her dreams. However, she ran into some financial aid issues that hindered her from attending classes in the Fall of 2022. Celeste was determined not to let this obstacle discourage her, and she started looking for community colleges in the area that offered prerequisite classes for the PA program. Norco College was the perfect fit, as it was conveniently located and offered several courses that she needed for her program. She immediately applied to the school and was overjoyed to become a Mustang.

Celeste admits that coming back to school after a long break was scary, but the support and opportunities available at Norco College made it easy for her to get back into the swing of things. She found the atmosphere, classes, teachers, staff, and student engagement to be extremely supportive, which made her feel comfortable and encouraged. She praises Norco College for being like a parent to her, always there for guidance and support when she needs it the most. She shared, “To know that they are there if I feel lost; to know they are there if I feel afraid; to know they are there for guidance - it's all so comforting.”

After graduating from Norco College, Celeste plans to transfer to CBU to continue in pursuit of her career in the medical field. Once complete, in addition to a career in pediatrics, she wants to specialize in geriatrics and special needs patients, and she has a slogan that she plans to carry with her throughout her career – "The Doctor for the voiceless." Celeste is grateful to Norco College for providing her with the opportunity to move toward her goals and become the kind of physician she has always wanted to be.

Celeste Young is an inspiration to anyone who is looking to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles they may face. Her determination and unwavering commitment to her career goals are admirable, and she credits Norco College for being a pivotal factor in her success. The Mustang community is lucky to have someone like Celeste, who is not only driven and dedicated but also compassionate and caring.
