When we think about the holiday season, many of us think about giving. As a society, we realize it is more blessed to give than receive, whether it be gifts, donations, time, or treats.

At Norco College, several student organizations and departments took advantage of the wonderful opportunity to help others and share gifts this holiday season. Collectively the college was able to bless several hundred children and students ranging from infants to teens and even those in the foster care system.

The Veterans Club participated in the Toys for Tots Toy Drive. An estimated 100 toys were donated to the Veterans Resource Center. Toys-for-Tots receives donations from the community and disperses them to over 400 non-profit organizations, which distribute the toys to less fortunate families across Riverside County. Andrew Rodrigo, the Veterans Club Treasure, shared his experience helping with Toys for Tots: “Being able to participate in providing hope and comfort to those who are struggling is such an extraordinary opportunity, and allows us to continue to serve our country and community!”

The giving did not stop there. The Associated Students of Norco College hosted Angel Tree. This was a unique opportunity to bless student-parents by providing gifts for their child based on their child's unique wish list. Many Mustangs came together to adopt a Christmas Angel and anonymously provide gifts to families in need. 143 angels were gifted.

And, if it could not get any better, it did! The Phoenix Scholars Program asked for support to ensure foster youth have a memorable holiday season. Over forty $25 gift cards were collected and distributed to Phoenix Scholars during the 8 Annual Foster Youth Holiday Dinner, hosted at Spaghetti Factory. Daniela McCarson, Dean of Special Funded Programs, extended her “sincerest gratitude” for all the donations that came in.

“The holidays are about caring, sharing, and spreading joy—not just for our immediate family but for others—Mustangs, job well done!” - President Monica Green.
