Honoring Diversity and Inclusivity with Campus Events and Resources

Norco College is proud to recognize LGBTQ+ History Month throughout October, celebrating the achievements, history, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community both on and off campus. This month provides an opportunity for the campus community to deepen their understanding of LGBTQ+ history and the ongoing fight for equality, while reaffirming Norco College’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for all.

The LGBTQ+ community plays a vital role in shaping the culture and values of Norco College. Through leadership, advocacy, and active participation in campus life, LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff have helped create a diverse and inclusive space where every individual is celebrated for their unique identity.

A Spotlight on the Unity Center

One of the cornerstones of inclusivity at Norco College is the Unity Center, a dedicated space where students of all backgrounds can come together, find support, and engage in meaningful conversations about social justice, equity, and inclusion. The Unity Center serves as a hub for LGBTQ+ support, hosting events, workshops, and discussions designed to promote understanding and solidarity. This month, the Unity Center will host a series of events aimed at educating the campus community on LGBTQ+ history and issues affecting the community today.

Become an Ally

Norco College will host an in-person LGBTQ+ ALLY training on Thursday, October 3rd, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in IT 108. Facilitated by Ammanda Moore and Christopher Lugo, the training offers participants an opportunity to fulfill Equity FLEX requirements while learning how to create a more inclusive campus environment. Attendees will engage in interactive sessions, receive a packet of resources, and have the chance to join the ALLY network. The training is open to all staff, administrators, faculty, and students who wish to support inclusivity. RSVP to ensure sufficient materials are available by contacting Christopher Lugo directly at christopher.lugo@norcocollege.edu.
