Norco College is proud to announce its participation in the Toward a Shared Vision convening on October 8th and 9th at the Riverside Convention Center. Hosted by Growing Inland Achievement (GIA), this event is dedicated to promoting equitable educational opportunities and advancing student success in the Inland Empire.

This year’s convening promises an exciting lineup of speakers, including Dr. Sonya Christian, Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, and Tony Thurmond, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction. These distinguished leaders will share their insights during a special panel discussion following the Toward a Shared Vision Awards dinner on October 8th. The two-day event will offer a platform for solution-driven discussions to address key educational challenges and improve outcomes across the cradle-to-career continuum in our region.

Norco College is thrilled to have Angel Flores, a second-year Computer Science major and AB540 student, represent the college at the GIA Awards banquet and the conference panel. Angel was recognized with a $500 scholarship for his commitment to advancing the Inland Empire and for participating on a panel at the conference. Norco College was recognized for its dedication to our community where Angel accepted our award on our behalf; GIA Toward a Shared Vision Award.

Angel shared his thoughts on the honor: "What this award means to me is growth and opportunity for our region. Receiving this award allows us to secure new grants and increase the number of fellows, creating a significant impact both short and long-term. As a student, I’ve witnessed firsthand how our fellows strive to make a difference in their communities. We are proud of the impact we’ve made and are motivated to continue making positive, meaningful change."

Norco College encourages faculty, staff, and community members to attend the event, as it provides a unique opportunity to engage in inspiring conversations, forge new connections, and celebrate the achievements of the region.
