Norco College is proud to announce that Angel Flores, a 2nd-year Computer Science major and AB540 student, was honored with a $500 scholarship at the 2024 Growing Inland Achievement (GIA) awards banquet. In addition to serving as a panelist and sharing his experiences as an immigrant student, Angel proudly accepted the GIA Toward a Shared Vision Award on behalf of Norco College. He was accompanied by Dr. Gustavo Oceguera and Dr. Edwin Romero, whose support reflects the college’s dedication to fostering student success, inclusion, and leadership within the region.
“Receiving this award is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Monica Green, President of Norco College. “It reflects our ongoing efforts to make a positive impact both within the college and across the Inland Empire. Through programs like College Corps, we empower our students to make meaningful contributions to their communities.”
The College Corps Fellows at Norco College participate in hands-on service projects that address real-world challenges, focusing on areas such as education, environmental sustainability, and food insecurity. This award affirms Norco College’s commitment to innovation and excellence in building partnerships that benefit both students and the community.
The award was presented at the Toward a Shared Vision Summit on October 8, 2024, held at the Riverside Convention Center. This recognition places Norco College at the forefront of regional efforts to enhance student engagement and community development.
