Gilbert DeLeon
Student Success Coach, Student Services
The newest Student Success Coach at Norco College is Gilbert DeLeon! Gilbert recently
transitioned from the Counseling Department to the Men of Color Scholars and Puente
programs. He is no stranger to Norco College and the District. He is an RCCD graduate
and in the past 20 years, Gilbert has served as a student worker, custodian, college
receptionist, and counseling clerk II. He is passionate and committed to helping students
achieve their goals and we are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing role model
working with our equity programs. Gilbert’s office is found on the 2 floor of the
Center for Student Success, next to the Umoja Program.
During his free time, Gilbert enjoys hiking and camping. He recently carried out a
500-mile hike between France and Spain called Camino de Santiago. What an amazing feat!
Mustang of the Month - August 2022
Gilbert was selected as Mustang of the Month for the generosity of spirit he brings
to his work in the Counseling department. Counseling is a critical step for students
as they come to the college for the first time and throughout their entire journey
with us through to graduation. Gilbert’s commitment to the core values of the college
and his dedication to helping students positively affects thousands of students that
come through our doors year after year. His nominator writes, “Gilbert is patient,
kind, and is a true practitioner of "students first." He is courteous, knowledgeable,
and goes out of his way to assist those in need.” Gilbert is another shining example
of the qualities embodied by every Norco College Mustang which make our students feel
welcome.
