The School of STEM, Engineering Pathways, and the Learning Resource Center hosted
the STEM Alumni Transfer Panel to celebrate Earth Week on April 20-24.
Current students and alumni virtually participated and shared transfer experiences,
internship opportunities and work adventures that helped them with their journey.
Alumni focused on STEM majors varying from computer science, chemistry, biology, engineering,
and statistics.
“It's imperative and valuable for students to build their network and community now,
and I applaud our alumni for their willingness to mentor our current students,” said
Patricia Gill, Norco College STEM services developer.
The event was scheduled to occur face-to-face as part of STEAM Week, but due to the
circumstances, the STEM staff decided to take a leap of faith and go virtual.
“I reached out to former students to participate on our alumni panel expecting to
schedule five speakers - one for each day - and was ecstatic to have 22 alumni respond,”
Gill said. “Each have a special bond to Norco College and attribute their success
to mentors, opportunities, and resources they received here.”
