Norco College was honored to welcome Congresswoman Young Kim to its campus Friday August 23, 2024, where she toured several of the College's key facilities, showcasing the resources and innovations that support student success. The visit included stops at the IT Supply Chain Classroom, the Marketplace Classroom, the Machine Shop, and the Veterans Resource Center, offering Congresswoman Kim a comprehensive look at how Norco College is preparing students for the future.

IT Supply Chain Classroom
The tour began at the IT Supply Chain Classroom, where Congresswoman Kim had the opportunity to see how students are being trained in one of the fastest-growing fields in the economy. The classroom is designed to simulate real-world IT environments, providing students with hands-on experience in managing supply chains, cybersecurity, and logistics. Congresswoman Kim discussed the importance of these skills in supporting both local and global industries and praised the program for equipping students with the tools necessary to succeed in the digital age.
Marketplace Classroom
Next, Congresswoman Kim visited the innovative Marketplace Classroom, a dynamic space that merges academic learning with real-world business experience. This classroom allows students to develop and execute business strategies in a simulated marketplace, providing a practical understanding of entrepreneurship, marketing, and management. Congresswoman Kim emphasized the value of experiential learning and commended Norco College for fostering an environment where students can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges.
Machine Shop
The tour continued to the Machine Shop, a state-of-the-art facility where students gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, engineering, and design. The shop is equipped with advanced machinery, enabling students to work on projects ranging from simple components to complex prototypes. Congresswoman Kim noted the critical role of technical training in preparing students for careers in high-demand fields and supporting the region's economic growth.
Veterans Resource Center
Concluding her visit, Congresswoman Kim toured the Veterans Resource Center, a vital resource for veteran students transitioning from military service to civilian life. The Center provides academic counseling, peer mentoring, and career services, ensuring that veterans have the support they need to achieve their educational and career goals. As an advocate for veterans, Congresswoman Kim expressed her appreciation for the comprehensive services offered at the Center and recognized the importance of such resources in helping veterans succeed in higher education.
