The Norco College men’s soccer team has clinched their second consecutive Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) championship, marking a historic achievement for the college's athletic program. Since Head Coach Drew Rea took charge in Fall 2019, the team has transformed both athletically and academically, culminating in Norco College's first-ever conference title in 2023. This year, they overcame early-season injuries to go undefeated in conference play, defending their title with pride and determination.

The season’s decisive game against College of the Desert (COD) on November 1 was a chance for Norco to secure the championship on their own terms. Needing only a victory, the team showed resilience and skill as they opened the match with an early goal from #12, Vinicius Goncalves, an international student from Brazil. COD quickly leveled the score at 1-1, but in the 82nd minute, Goncalves scored again to secure Norco’s hard-fought 2-1 victory. Both goals were assisted by #9, Jose Garcia, who ranks second in the state with 12 assists this season. Goalkeeper Adan Zamora also played a standout game, contributing greatly to the team’s success.

Dean of Student Life Mark Hartley, Ed.D., praised the team’s achievement, saying:

“Congratulations to Head Coach Drew Rea and Assistant Coaches Ernie Parra, Oscar Gaytan, and Jeff Redinger. Coach Rea is the front-runner for the IEAC Soccer Coach of the Year, an honor he also received last season. Congratulations to our amazing Men’s Championship Soccer Team and the Coaching Staff!”

This back-to-back championship highlights Norco College’s dedication to building a culture of excellence in academics and athletics, making the men’s soccer team a source of pride for the entire Norco College community.
