Teresa Friedrich Finnern

Each week, we are spotlighting one faculty member at Norco College to help you get to know about them and the program that they teach. This week's faculty spotlight is on Teresa Friedrich Finnern, Professor of Biology.

Dr. Finnern is a Professor of Biology and the Biology Co-Chair for the Department of Science and Kinesiology. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Hope College in Michigan, then an M.S. and Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan. She joined the college in 2006 and was integral to developing Associate Degrees for Transfer in Biology, Environmental Science, and Chemistry, and the California Naturalist Certificate. Recent projects have been to encourage a shift to Zero Textbook Cost courses and use of Open Education Resources (OER) in science courses at Norco College.

The passion that Dr. Finnern has for nature is evident in the classes she teaches, especially Field Botany, General Botany, and Principles of Ecology. Her goal is to engage students with the natural world and open their eyes to the wonders of biology.
