On behalf of the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties, I’m reaching out to
invite you to our upcoming events this month. The programs are free, open to the public,
and are not-to-be-missed opportunities for the entire RCCD community to attend.
This week, we are partnering with Cellar Door Bookstore and Moreno Valley College. We are excited to host an author conversation with Brittney
Cooper, Chanel Craft Tanner, and Susana Morris about their newly published book, Feminist
AF. Written at the intersection of hip-hop and feminism, Feminist AF is for “loud
and rowdy girls, quiet and nerdy girls, girls who rock naturals, girls who wear weave[s],
outspoken and opinionated girls, girls still finding their voice, queer girls, trans
girls, and gender nonbinary young people who want to make the world better Feminist
AF uses the insights of feminism to address issues relevant to today’s young woman.”
The authors will be with us in person on Friday, October 15 at the Moreno Valley College’s Common Ground Center at 2:30 PM, and in Riverside, at the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties at 6:30 PM. A limited number of free copies of Feminist AF will be available to students at
each event.
Next week, we are looking forward to a virtual conversation between Dr. Myisha Cherry and Dr. Cornel West. This event is a virtual book launch for Professor Cherry’s newest book, The Case
for Rage: Why Anger Is Essential to Anti-Racist Struggle. The event will take place
on Tuesday, October 19 at 4:30 PM. Please use this link to register for the event.
Finally, save the date for Wednesday, October 27 for an anti-racist townhall!
Please see the attached flyer, share it, and we hope to see you at one of these events!
