Norco College is proud to announce its participation in Undocumented Student Action Week from October 14-17. This weeklong event aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by undocumented students while celebrating their contributions to our community. As an institution dedicated to education and inclusivity, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their immigration status.

Throughout the week, Norco College will host a series of engaging events designed to support undocumented students and foster a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students. The week’s events will provide valuable resources, share powerful stories, and promote important discussions about the experiences of undocumented individuals.

Event Highlights:

Monday, 10/14 - Alumni Transfer Panel @ 12:50-1:50 PM, CSS 217
Join us for a panel discussion featuring alumni who successfully transferred to four-year institutions. Hearing from alumni is critical, as their stories offer insight into the challenges and successes of navigating higher education as undocumented students. Their experiences will provide current students with inspiration, practical advice, and hope for their own educational journeys.

Tuesday, 10/15 - Movie and Tacos @ 12:40-4:00 PM, CSS 217
We will be screening The Guardian of the Monarchs, a documentary that tells the powerful story of the migration of monarch butterflies, drawing parallels between their journey and that of immigrants seeking safety and stability. After the screening, enjoy an interactive and immersive butterfly exhibit, followed by a free taco bar. This event promises to be both enlightening and fun, while underscoring the themes of migration and resilience.

Wednesday, 10/16 - “Know Your Roots” @ 12:50-2:00 PM, CSS Grassy Area
We are thrilled to welcome guest speaker Bo Thai, an Undocu-entrepreneur, artist, storyteller, and educator from Thailand. Bo’s work, recently highlighted in VoyageLA, explores the intersections of identity, entrepreneurship, and resilience. His journey as an undocumented individual will resonate deeply with the themes of this week. Sponsored by the AANHPI committee, this event will celebrate Bo’s unique cultural background and explore the power of storytelling in fostering community and understanding. You can read more about Bo’s story here.

Thursday, 10/17 - Undocu-ALLY Training @ 12:50-3:50 PM, CSS 217 (RSVP is required)

This hands-on training, presented by UndocuScholarsLLC, will equip participants with strategies that can be implemented across campus to support undocumented and mixed-status students. A key focus will be on fostering inter-departmental collaboration, breaking down silos, and ensuring that all offices and departments are "UndocuReady Together." Let’s work together to create an inclusive and supportive campus for all. Certificate of Completion and Free Food for those in attendance.

Throughout the month of October, The Corral will feature a special drink in honor of Undocumented Student Action Week: “The No I.C.E. Special,” an Iced Fiery Mocha. This delicious beverage combines chocolate syrup with a spicy kick, rich espresso, and steamed milk, creating a delightful experience whether served iced or hot.

Additionally, students can enter a raffle for prizes every Friday (October 4, 11, 18, 25) on the Unity Zone Instagram page: @nc_unityzone. For more information, please visit the Unity Zone in CSS 216.

Norco College encourages all faculty, staff, and students to participate in these important events. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive campus environment for undocumented students and their families. Mark your calendars and join us in this impactful week of events!
