Norco College received a $10,000 grant from Growing Inland Awareness (GIA). The grant
is assists students with basic needs, specifically housing and food insecurities.
Norco College collaborated with WoodSpring Suites in the city of Norco to provide
rooms for homeless students. The GIA grant provided 16 students a place to stay during
the fall semester. In addition to providing hotel stays for students, the grant also
assisted students and their families who had food insecurities. Norco College Chef
Antonio, and his staff worked towards creating weekly Grab & Go Bags filled with nutritious
food options. Each Friday during the fall semester, students stopped by the campus
to pick up a bag of groceries. During the fall semester, 298 students benefitted from
this program.
In November, Chef Antonio and his staff created Thanksgiving gift bags for students.
Food Services partnered with the Associated Students of Norco College and purchased
turkeys and pies.
