Norco College is proud to be among the leading California Community Colleges and California State University campuses in being honored as a 2021 Champion of Higher Education and Equity Champion for Excellence in Transfer. The Campaign for College Opportunity recognized the College as a leader in the state for working with intentionality to support Latinx students through the Associate Degree for Transfer.

“Over the course of six years, Norco College has proactively worked to transform our institution to close equity gaps for our most underrepresented students,” President Monica Green, Ed.D., said. “As an institution of higher learning servicing over 57% Latinx students, it is an honor to be recognized as a leader for Latinx students transfer.”

In 2020-21 Norco College awarded 507 Associate Degrees for Transfer of its 1,770 associate degrees conferred.

The Equity Champions for Excellence in Transfer award will be presented to Norco College at the virtual event, Champions of Higher Education Celebration, on November 16.

Norco College offers various resources aimed at supporting underserved student populations, such as first-generation Hispanic and Latinx students, include the Norco College Promise, which grants financial support to student during their first year. Students are also provided basic needs support through its food pantry and laptop and wi-fi loan program.

The Campaign for College Opportunity’s mission is to ensure that all eligible and motivated students in California have an opportunity to go to college and succeed. The Campaign remains committed to keeping the State of California from breaking its promise of college opportunity to its next generation of young people in order to ensure a strong state for all.
