Undocumented students are an integral part of our community and are entitled to every opportunity to succeed. Community colleges play a pivotal role in providing these students with the education and resources they need to thrive. However, many undocumented students continue to face significant barriers to employment and financial stability due to their immigration status.
This year, Norco College joined the California Community College's Chancellor’s Office and statewide partners from October 14-17 for a week of collaboration that supported students, faculty, and those involved in advocating for our undocumented students.
Norco College serves around 150-200 undocumented students, with an Undocu Student Success Rate of 82.2%. Advocacy efforts, supported by the Unity Zone and college programs, aim to eliminate equity gaps.
Undocumented Student Action Week, hosted by the Unity Zone united allies, faculty, classified professionals, and community members to promote a collaborative campus approach for undocumented students. Colleagues engaged in Undocu-Ally Training, fostering meaningful dialogues.
Special thanks to Career Education, Undocu-Task Force, Dreamers & Leaders Student Club, UndocuScholars LLC, Flutterby, Daniel Turrubiartes, and undocu-alumni for their contributions.
