Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order requiring residents in California to stay home, except as needed. The order, which has the support of Sonia Angell, MD, director, State Public Health Office and California Department of Public Health, went into effect on Thursday evening (March 19). It will remain in place until further notice.

A handful of essential services will remain open, such as gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants, banks and laundromats/laundry services. Some state and local government functions will also remain open, such as law enforcement and offices that provide government programs and services. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. If you go out to one of the approved locations, keep at least a six-foot buffer between yourself and other individuals.

Riverside Community College District‘s colleges and the District office locations are closed to all visitors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Very limited essential personnel are permitted on site at this time. All other employees are working remotely, or are on stand-by until in-person operations resume, to ensure continuity of business operations and instruction.

RCCD colleges continue moving instruction online for classes Monday, March 23. For more information regarding online instruction and available student services, please log on to your home college website or visit the District site.
