Norco College is excited to announce the upcoming construction of the Center for Human Performance and Kinesiology (CHP+K), a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for athletic and academic programs. Groundbreaking is scheduled for August 2025, with completion expected in 2027.

The 56,000-square-foot building will be funded in part by the Measure CC Bond, passed by voters in November 2024, along with state appropriations dedicated to the project. The facility will be designed and engineered by the DLR Group, whose vision emphasizes movement, interaction, and creating connections between the building and the campus landscape. The building will seamlessly integrate with the Norco skyline, taking advantage of the natural surroundings while fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

“The new Center for Human Performance and Kinesiology will be a game-changer for our athletic and kinesiology programs,” said Ruben Aguilar, Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Norco College. “This facility will not only support our current programs but also provide the resources needed to expand our athletic offerings and enhance our students' hands-on learning experiences.”

The CHP+K will feature a range of facilities, including a classroom laboratory, office space, a conference room, a lounge, and various athletic spaces. These athletic areas will include a multi-use gymnasium with retractable seating for 500, a weight room, a training room, a cardio and wellness studio, exercise studios, storage areas, a laundry room, student locker rooms, and faculty changing facilities. The addition of this comprehensive center will support Norco College’s growing number of athletic programs, including the addition of women's flag football alongside soccer, offering students modern and versatile spaces for both training and education.

The School of Natural Sciences, Health & Kinesiology at Norco College offers a variety of programs that prepare students for careers in the health and fitness industry. Among the offerings are an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree in Kinesiology, Health & Wellness and an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in Kinesiology, which provide pathways to both California State Universities (CSUs) and University of California (UC) campuses. Students interested in careers such as athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology, sports nutrition, or physical education may pursue additional education beyond a bachelor's degree. The department is also excited about the opportunity to build future pathways such as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program, Adapted Physical Education, and many more. This center represents our commitment to innovation, inclusion, and student success.

The new Center for Human Performance and Kinesiology will enhance athletic and academic opportunities while creating a vibrant and inviting space that brings together students, staff, and community members.
