Each week, we are spotlighting one faculty member at Norco College to help you get to know about them and the program that they teach. This week's faculty spotlight is on Sara Nafzgar, Associate Professor of Communication Studies.
Sara Nafzgar earned an associate of art degree from Mt. San Antonio College and a baccalaureate and master’s degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Fullerton. She joined RCCD in 2007 and has taught at all three colleges.
As a student at Mt. SAC and CSUF, Nafzgar competed on the speech and debate team, ranking in multiple events at the national tournament. It was during her community college years as a young mom that she met her mentor, Phil Maynard, who saw something in her that she didn’t (yet) see in herself. Now she is grateful for a career that gives her the opportunity to pay that forward by identifying strengths and encouraging persistence in her students.
