Professor Michelle Ramin has been invited to exhibit her artwork in the upcoming exhibition "Edge of Now," presented by LAUNCH LA in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA). Her color pencil piece, "I Can See Your Roots, Claudia," will be displayed from March 6 to March 28, 2025, at the Korean Cultural Center Art Gallery (5505 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036). The exhibition’s opening reception will take place on Thursday, March 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
"Edge of Now" explores the evolving cultural influences that shape individuals and communities. As globalization and social transformations continue to impact daily life, the exhibition serves as a reflection on adaptation, resistance, and engagement with these changes. Featuring works from 36 selected artists, including Professor Ramin, this juried exhibition highlights diverse perspectives on contemporary culture through various artistic mediums such as oil painting, photography, mixed media, and drawing.
The open call for "Edge of Now" was highly competitive, receiving over 560 submissions from more than 140 local artists. Jurors Sunook Park, a CSULB School of Art professor and an independent curator, and Shana Nys Dambrot, an art critic and curator, selected 36 artists to feature in the exhibition.
KCCLA Director Sangwon Jung emphasized the exhibition’s role in fostering artistic dialogue. “We hope this exhibition will provide a meaningful opportunity for artists and audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds to come together and engage with the artworks.”
LAUNCH LA Director James Panozzo added, “This exhibition showcases the creativity and diversity of Southern California artists. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with KCCLA to provide more opportunities for local artists to share their work.”
The "Edge of Now" exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the LAUNCH LA Website: https://launchla.org/.
