On November 3, Norco College hosted the Fall 2011 Career & Job Fair. The Student Services walkway was filled almost end to end with 38 employers from a broad range of business sectors. The different fields represented included law enforcement, early childhood education, health care, and manufacturing. Also in attendance were 13 representatives from the building and trade unions.
Many of the unions brought along equipment and simulators to showcase their specific field. The crane simulator booth proved popular, with students able to use the simulator to pick up and move steel bars. The Teamsters also brought a 40-foot trailer that captured student attention from across campus.
Employers reported a positive experience. Several said they had found a great pool of applicants from which to choose. One trade representative mentioned he found a perfect candidate with the needed skills; he plans on starting that person working in just a few short weeks.
The Career & Job Placement Center at Norco College plans to host another Career & Job Fair in March 2012.
